The Bishop of Urgell, Pau Duran (1624–1651), maintained good relations with the Piarists and promoted the establishment of a school in Guissona. After choosing the land, construction began, and Father Melcior was appointed as the superior of the future house. However, with the bishop’s death and the superior’s illness, the project was abandoned, and the Piarists never settled there.

In response, the town of Guissona agreed to grant a six-year term to continue the foundation; otherwise, the site would be offered to another order. Once the deadline passed without progress, the property was transferred to the Discalced Augustinians of Santa Mònica de Barcelona, who accepted it and began the new foundation in 1650. Upon completion of the convent’s construction, in 1653, the foundation was finalized with the arrival of eight friars. In 1700, the first stone of a new church was laid, and the work was completed in 1745. The house was suppressed in 1835, and the property passed into private hands. The church was converted into a garage, while the convent was used as a school, a role it continues to serve today, now managed by the Dominican Sisters of the Annunciation.
